YeePay's Merchant Ranking Competition

YeePay, a Chinese payment provider that we have been covering for a while, has recently launched a new marketing campaign where users get to rank their favorite online merchants. In this campaign, which lasts until January 15, YeePay’s merchant partners are competing for prizes totaling approximately RMB 1 million (~ USD 135,000).

Merchants who want to take part in this competition must put a voting banner linking to YeePay’s voting page on their website and make YeePay their preferred payment platform. Users who click on the banner are redirected to a voting page where they are asked to rank merchants according to user interface, selection of merchandise and prices, payment options and security, delivery speed and customer service quality. The highest ranked merchant will get RMB 280,000, with the first and second runners-up receiving RMB 120,000 and RMB 60,000 respectively. More information is available in this press release.

The campaign is part of a recent marketing push to promote its online payment platform. Other actions including the scrapping of merchant sign-up fees through the end of 2007.

YeePay currently provides payment solutions on two main payment channels: online payment and telephone payment. Although telephone payments (through IVR) have been the bread and butter of YeePay’s business for the past two years, the share of revenues from online payments has been gradually growing. With this new campaign and and eePay’s recent selection as the sole payment provider for Eachnet, we expect the share of revenues through online payment to increase further.
