One point of agreement that emerged during the spirited discussion was that China's e-commerce industry is still very young, and the focus right now should be on developing a healthy environment to promote widespread adoption of e-payment platforms. Panelists also agreed that rather than focusing on specific business models (m-payment SPs vs. smartcards vs. Monternet), the most important aspect to the development of e-payment is improving the market environment.
