Maverick China Research tailors our research and services to each of our clients' specific needs. Although each client and each project are unique, a typical customized project will include the following steps:
Project kick-off
Research scope, deliverables, key questions and issues settled with the client.
Selection of research team and analyst training
Research analysts are selected for each project from our Beijing office. Analysts are briefed on both the project requirements, schedule, and plan, as well as the products covered in the study with the help of the client. A vocabulary list is made in English and Chinese, and initial background research is done.
Questionnaire development
A questionnaire is developed to be used in interviews by Maverick analysts. The questionnaire is designed to gather data (both qualitative and quantitative) as laid out in the project outline. Maverick China Research typically develops three types of questionnaires as needed: supplier, distributor, and end-user questionnaires. The questionnaires are translated into Chinese, prioritized by questions, and tested before being used.
Making target company list
A target list of companies to be interviewed is made, and prioritized based on research needs and availability.
Trial interviews and questionnaire modification
The questionnaires are tested on a small sample of companies. As a result of these initial trial interviews, the questionnaires are modified as appropriate.
Execution of interviews
This is usually the largest part of a project, and required an extensive amount of work. Maverick analysts set out to interview suppliers, distributors, end-users, industry experts, and industry associations and organizations. Interviews can be done either in-person or by phone, based on individual client needs.
Interview management and monitoring
Interviews are reviewed with great frequency during the research process, and any general or specific problems were dealt with immediately. After review of interviews, follow-up questions are made as appropriate. In some cases, for example, some companies had to be interviewed with more than one contact.
Information aggregation and final presentation
All the data that was gathered in the interview process is gathered and retained in a single location. When necessary quantitative data is processed and analyzed using statistical software such as SPSS. All findings are then organized and written into a report format, with the most important findings highlighted, and conclusions presented to the clients. |
